We show up

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.

No man has ever risen higher than the encouragement of the people around him.

One of the most powerful tools we have is our curiosity. It can help us grow, build
relationships with others, adapt more effectively to change and create more‑innovative solutions.

How we show up

Getting together with a circle of friends at the end of a long week just feels good. The humor, the razzing, the new jobs, and sorting through life’s slings and arrows. Think: the bar at Cheers … but with caffeine.

While we circle up each Friday at 3:00pm, no afternoon is ever the same except for the laughter. We interview fascinating people. Or tease out issues and try on ideas both big and small.  No one ever leaves bored and usually able to stand a little taller.

The Wednesday Fraternity

Fridays@Coffee began as a way to forge community in our fractured world.  But it wasn’t long before some of the guys raised their hands wondering about how to venture higher – becoming the sort of man they hope to become.

The Wednesday Fraternity is our step further.  To zip up our Gore-Tex jackets and lace up our boots for a journey into transformation

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this some sort of organized religious thing?

Not really.  We’re committed to helping men build healthy lives that bring together all the pieces of our lives — the physical, psychological, relational, and spiritual dimensions of life.

The Entry Point

We just call it Fridays@Coffee. While there may be some people of faith, others not at all.  Our two founding friends first came together around good coffee meeting on Friday afternoons and discussed everything under the sun (including test-driving sports cars).  Friends wanted to know if they could join in. All that original DNA is still there!

The Adventure Continues…

We call this our Wednesday Fraternity. We met on Wednesday evenings during the school year. In our pursuit of building vital community, of course, we always eat together. Then we roll up our sleeves to tackle themes and embrace topics that we believe bring transformational growth. We ask a lot or each other, but have been really well-paid through the stories of men who have navigated difficult waters and whose influence is still growing.

Who’s in charge?

Two life-long friends, Rick Eller and Phil Oswald . Two guys who met up at a Rotary club years ago and leverage their lives to help men find vital community that can, in turn, help them make the most of their lives

Where do you meet?

One of our guys has a casita that is the world’s best man cave. Seriously. It’s a perfect place to meet, eat, and cheer each other and our favorite sports teams on.. Just ask us for a map or coordinates.

What’s it cost?

Lots in terms of time and relationships.  And some money in supplying snacks for Fridays and occasional meals at our Wednesday Fraternity – because we share a meal each week.
